Prosecutors are asking for Muhammad Syafie Ismail to be jailed for between 12 years and nine months and 13-and-a-half years. The defence is seeking up to eight years, while both sides agree that he should be banned from driving for life.

The late seafood businessman’s daughter is suing his former assistant for S$1.711 million, alleging that she took the money while he was seriously ill. The woman says they had been in a relationship for 10 years and that he gave her the money so she could buy a home.
